CURRENT AND RECENT CHILDREN / YOUTH PROJECTS:
- Minimizing Trauma and Building Resiliency: On August 1, 2007, a bus load of children, ranging in age from 5-16 were returning from an outing, when they were on the I35W bridge, which collapsed in Minneapolis. A group of facilitators were available within a week to begin working with the traumatized children, their parents and the staff of Waite House. Using a Mind-Body Skills model specifically developed for children, ongoing trauma was minimized and children learned stress-busters that will be useful life long. This program was jointly co-directed by Lora and colleague, Jane Reilly, MS, LICSW
- Kids Resiliency Education (KRE): KRE is a healthcare program aimed at preschool aged kids who are currently experiencing homelessness and/or severe poverty in Minneapolis. KRE has been a program sponsored by St. Stephen's in Minneapolis. The curriculum was created and is facilitated by Lora and Michele. KRE has been a three year grant sponsored program that has focused on teaching inner city pre-school teachers, children ages 3-5 and parents the principals of stress reduction; self regulation, and emotional intelligence.
